Farewell My Concubine opera in San Francisco Jan 12 & 13,2008 2 shows!!
The Chinese American Inter-Cultural Exchange Foundation and Starimage Inc. are proud to present the newly "Westernized" interpretation of the classic Chinese love story, "Farewell My Concubine." This is the story of the warlord, Xiang Yu and his beloved Yu Ji. Locked in battle, he tries to send his mistress to safety but she refuses, saying she would rather die by his side than live without him. Presented by the China National Opera House, the world premiere of this new opera was held Oct. 12, 2007 in Bejing. This production marks the first time it will be heard outside China.
