Korean pop singers Kim Tae-woo and Son Ho-young will jointly hold concerts in the United States which will be sponsored by major corporations in the country.
"The main sponsors for Kim and Son's U.S. tour will be Verizon Wireless' Cell Town and international hotel chain Hyatt Hotel," a representative from singer Kim's agency Polaris Entertainment said Tuesday.
Verizon is one of the major mobile communication services in the U.S. while Cell Town represents Verizon Wireless in Asia.
"Through this concert, we hope to show other companies that the Asian market has many possibilities. We are putting efforts to make this a memorable concert to represent the Korean culture," an official from Cell Town explained in its reason for sponsoring the shows.
The tour, titled "The First...," will kick off in Chicago on February 12 followed by performances in Seattle and Vancouver.
Singers Kim and Son first debuted together in 1999 in the now-disbanded boy band group GOD. The two have pursued solo singing careers ever since, with Kim in particular seeing a successful year in 2009 with his hit single "Love Rain."

Mayday To Perform Live At Mohegan Sun

Mayday’s D.N.A. World Tour will be stopping at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, April 4th. The show will have two performances, the first at 2:00am and the second at 2:00pm.

Hailed as one of the pioneers of rock music in Taiwan, Mayday is an Alternative Rock band that was formed in the late 90s with five members, Ashin, Monster, Stone, Masa and Guan You. Mayday’s songs are written mostly in Mandarin with some Min Nan tracks by Ashin. They are popular for their student band roots and their ability to capture the zeitgeist of Taiwanese youth in the mid to late 90s.
Mayday has made no secret of its admiration of the Beatles whom they cite as influencing their ideals of Rock music. The song “John Lennon” off their fifth album showcases the group’s dream to become the “Beatles of the Chinese World.” Other diverse musical influences include the Irish band U2, the British band Oasis and China Blue.
The band released its first album under Rock Records on July 7, 1999 and they were nominated for “Best Band” at the 11th Golden Melody Awards that same year. The band’s second album Viva Love was released in July 2000 and won the award for “Best Band” at the 12th Golden Melody Awards. The album’s success was followed by a series of concerts called Ten Thousand Youths Standing Up in Taipei City, Zhang Hua and Kaohsiung City. On March 19, 2009, Mayday kicked off their new World Tour D.N.A. Mayday “Creates” Concert which commenced in Hong Kong and the band released two songs “D.N.A.” and “Unbridled” for the tour.

Ha Yu (Wong Shing) was born in Qingdao, Shandong Province. He was initially discovered by Jiang Wen during his semi-autobiographical film, "In the Heat of the Sun." He achieved international fame, including the award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, becoming the youngest actor to win that award in the history of the festival. After his first film, he was accepted into the Central Academy of Drama, the most prestigious acting school in Beijing. In addition to many television roles, his most recent film appearances have been in the modern Chinese comedy "Waiting Alone" and the Hong Kong action film "Meng Long". In 2008, he received the Best Male Actor Award for his character Gam Tia Jo in the popular TV drama series "Moonlight Resonance."
