Carrie Underwood Concert

I know Carrie Underwood is far from Asian concerts, but I had to talk about my experience meeting her and going to her concert. Her presence definitely captures everyone's attention in a room, and her voice is simply breathtaking! She really knows how to put on a show, even in a small auditorium in Evansville, IN.

Being one of the few folks to meet her before the concert was a cool experience. And little did I know she grew up 1hr away from where I did in good ol' Oklahoma!

Happy holidays everyone!

Exclusive Interview with Harry Shum Jr.

1. With Chinese parents, how did they take it when you chose a career in dance vs. the traditional stereotypical doctor / lawyer route?

They weren't too happy with the idea. But they always supported me in a way where I was allowed the freedom to do what I wanted. They just pushed for the business route because there was more security in it. That's what they were expose to and I get it.

2. You are paving the way for future Asian-American artists in the dancing / music industry, any pressure?

If more people are getting involved in the arts, whether it'd be as a hobby or a career then I feel that I've done my job. There will always be pressure as an entertainer but sometimes we have to remind ourselves why we do what we do. I do it to entertain audiences and hopefully inspire them in one way or another.

3. What's one of the most difficult things you've had to learn for your career?

Patience.

4. Do you have to practice many hours to learn routines, or does dance come very naturally to you? Or is it a bit of both?

It's a little bit of both. What's really interesting is that sometimes the difficult routines are easier to learn and the simple ones just don't seem to register. I wonder why that is?

5. Do you have a special dance move that you “own”?

I don't believe in "owning" dance moves.

6. What was your favorite song you performed this season?

"Like a Prayer"

7. What song would you like to do?

Anything Bobby Darin or Frank Sinatra would be fun. Of course MJ as well.

8. What’s it like “re-living” high school?

Those were some of my best and worst years. Now I get to re-live it and not have it be reality. Win win for me!

9. How similar were you to your character, Mike Chang, in high school?

Fun facts. Mike joined The Glee Club going to a random audition. I joined the dance team going to a random audition. Mike was a football player that joined New Directions. I influenced some of the football players to join the dance team. My character is still developing so we'll see what else we can find.

10. Is Mike Chang ever going to get a storyline in Glee?

I hope so. Mike Chang needs some lovin'.

11. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects you have lined up?

Outside of Glee, I am also working on the online dance adventure The LXD (The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.) We just finished up opening up for The Glee Live Tour and now gearing up for production on the second season for the online series. It's set to launch this summer and you can find out more at www.thelxd.com.

12. Loved the Apple commercial- do you have any other projects on the horizon besides LXD? Or is Glee taking up most of your time?

They take a big chunk of my time. Wish I could do more but then I'd have to clone myself.

13. What can we expect with Step Up 3 3-D?

A fun summer movie with explosive dancing all in 3-D!

14. Will you be a guest judge on any of the dance shows like ABDC, SYTYCD, DWTS?

Ya never know. Maybe. But I have no plans to do so as of right now.

Miscellaneous

15. Anything you want to say to your fans on aznconcerts.com?

Thank you for all who came out on the tour and also to the fans for showing your continued support. How about we all gather for a virtual hug? Ok I'm officially a bigger nerd than I already am. 8-p

Bosco and Ella Thanksgiving Concert Review

So this was my first concert I had attended in years. I must say, it was a blast and reminded me why I love Asian concerts so much! After many years of having Asian concerts in LA, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, etc, it was about time that there was an Asian concert in Chicago!

The concert started at 9pm at Horseshoe Casino to a sold out house. Ella kicked off the night with her charm and her lovely voice. To keep up the crowd's energy, Ella asked some trivia questions and handed out gifts for participants. The best part was when she asked what people eat during Thanksgiving, and the gentleman answered "Hot Pot". The crowd then went crazy when she went out to shake their hands and take pictures with many of her fans.

Ella transitioned the night to Bosco with a romantic duet. Bosco kept up the energy by singing more energetic songs and showed off his dance moves. He too played games with the crowd, including his own version of Simon-Says called "Bosco Wah (Chinese for Says)". The fans went crazy when Bosco went to shake hands with the fans and take pictures. It was so intense that security asked Bosco to go back on stage and not come back down for the night. The female fans went even crazier when he brought up 2 female fans and danced / sung a seductive Leslie Cheung song.

My night wrapped up with a bang when I went backstage. I must admit, Ella and Bosco are both very attractive individuals, especially up-close. Big thanks to Jonathan and Sunday Entertainment Concepts, Inc! Congrats to all that helped with a successful concert. Can't wait for the Ron Ng and Yumiko Cheng Christmas Concert!

Wong Lee Hom's Las Vegas Concert Review

Thanks to Elly, Mary Jane and Jeanne (HOM Sweet Home Admins) for the review

With great anticipation, we flew into Las Vegas for the 2009 Music Man World Tour concert. New songs, new acts, and a brand new concert tour from our favorite artist and his prized Bahamut - who wouldn't be excited?! Sadly though, in the wise words of Lion King's Timon, "Our trio's down to two" as we were missing an admin who, because of other obligations, had to stay behind and disseminate last minute news, instructions, and information to fanclub members. But we digress.

The concert started out with a traditional lion dance, upon a stage that was decked out with three giant and very impressive screens showcasing various anime of none other than MUSIC-MAN!! Meanwhile, Bahamut was situated on a mini platform at the very top of the stage. When the show began, MUSIC-MAN flew down on to the stage in full superhero attire and style via his Musicman-mobile, otherwise known as a descending platform. He started off with a song from his newest album - What's Wrong with Rock?, a rockish tune which set the perfect mood for the rest of concert. Not long afterward, he showed off his weapon-of-choice, Bahamut, while singing W-H-Y and a remix of Mistake in the Flower Field. He then rocked out with guitarists Jingles and Jamie Wilson to Descendant of the Dragon. After our resident comedian-superhero wished everyone a Happy Chinese "Nu" Year, he maintained his US concert "tradition" and asked the audience which language we preferred him speaking in. Although the answer was overwhelmingly English, he still kept us entranced with his Mandarin, Cantonese and even some Japanese! He also attempted to speak to us using his MUSIC-MAN voice, but settled for his alter-ego Leehom's voice when the audience could not understand anything that was being said.

MUSIC-MAN then quickly got back into superhero mode and started singing ballads such as Heartbeat, Forever Love, Sense of Security, and First Morning. To everyones' delight, during Forever Love, MUSIC-MAN walked down off the stage and greeted some of the audience members. As fans rushed in to get a closer look at our favourite superhero, he pointed the microphone towards the crowd and encouraged them to sing.

A short clothes change later, a few more ballads were sung (Crying Palms, and If You Heard my Song) before MUSIC-MAN's rapping skills were put to the test with a Bamboo Grove remix. During this energetic song his dancers electrified the stage, while the amazing Brandy did three back flips! The dancers and MUSIC-MAN then rocked to the tunes of past and present, such as Girlfriend and Dirty Love. MUSIC-MAN then reverted permanently (for the evening) back to his alter-ego Leehom form, changed into a blue outfit complete with hat and sunglasses, and introduced himself Xiao Lü (小綠). He stated that he was unable to speak Chinese well, and adopted an accent while he spoke as Xiao Lü. Since Xiao Lü was the drummer of the Change Me band, he started with the drum set, and one by one, his other Change Me bandmates came on. Xiao Hong came out in a red suit, Xiao Huang came out in a yellow suit, and Leehom came out dressed in a white suit and sunglasses. While the band started up with the song Change Me each of the large screen showcased Xiao Huang, Lü, and Hong. After Change Me, Leehom switched from vocals to instrumentals with a poignant violin rendition of When You wish Upon a Star. To the glee of the audience, the song flowed beautifully and ebbed into Falling Leaf Returns to Root with Lust, Caution photos being displayed on the big screens.

With the next outfit change, Leehom appeared wearing a stunning light blue tailored coattailed jacket and proceeded into serenading the crowd with A Simple Song whilst taking off his jacket to reveal a sleeveless white number. Our favorite part was next, when Leehom played the piano and sang You Are Not Here, The One & Only, Love's Encouragement and Big City Small love. After the mesmerizing piano pieces, Leehom took the time to chat with the audience and asked where everyone was from - the cue for us to hold up our HOM Sweet Home banner. He read it and said: "HOM Sweet Home. That's clever, but where are you all from?!" Perhaps, next time we will hold up our city signs... MUSIC-MAN's fans are so far-reaching - there were people from the USA and Canada of course (i.e. New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, California, Hawaii, Toronto), but there were also plenty of fans from far away places, such as Indonesia, Japan, and even some who came from Venezuela!

After he chatted with the audience, Leehom said his world is filled with Chinese music and that he wanted to share a little bit of his world with the audience, and thus smoothly segued to the next song Can You Feel My World! Since this is the HSH admins' favorite song, we were ecstatic that Leehom felt it appropriate to include this song in the world tour. During the instrumental end portion of the song, MUSIC-MAN's alter-ego even graced us with a little bit of his dancing skills as we watched in utter amazement.

After his dance, it was back to singing as he performed another song from his new album, No Reason to Pay Attention to You, followed by Beside the Plum Blossom. During this song, a surprise magic show ensued as Leehom entered a black box while showcasing his rapping skills, and then magically appeared up in the balconies immediately after! A myriad of fans ran over to him, and he sang Heroes of Earth while attempting to, and then eventually making it back on stage. He then sang oldies like Open Your Heart and Shangri-La, and proceeded to say his good-byes as the concert was drawing to a close... But of course, Leehom never leaves us without an encore! MUSIC-MAN came back out wearing his insignia on his T-shirt and sang Loving You = Loving Me while dancing on top of the piano! Sadly, all things must come to an end; he ended the concert with Kiss Goodbye on the piano after thanking everyone and introducing his crew.

But the night wasn't over! For the first time in the US, Leehom agreed to host an autograph session which took place after the concert. The line for the autograph session was remarkably long. In fact, it snaked around the complex! We are not quite sure how many fans were present, however Leehom agreed to autograph all the albums that were present and some fans even bought multiple CDs for him to sign. When it was the our turn to have our albums autographed, we asked him about the fruit arrangement that HOM Sweet Home organized along with some of the other international fanclubs. He stated that "It was very flowerful. I enjoyed it and shared it with my staff like you asked me to."

The extraordinary concert & the first ever autograph session in the states - it was truly a night to remember!
Thank you Leehom, wangleehom.com, MGM Grand, Jade Entertaiment and everyone else whose hard work made this concert night possible! We can't wait for the next North American concert!

The 6th Annual Korean Music Festival Review

If you have heard or read people’s accounts at last night's Korean Music Festival ~ Hollywood Bowl 2008 (May 19), you’d surely feel how excited and thrilled the fans really were and you'd wished you could have been there as well.

The 6th Annual Korean Music Festival started off early in the evening, with daylight still very much evident in the sky; TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu sang the Korean national anthem. Though everyone was suppose to pay their respects to the Korean flag, many fans were screaming already. Undoubtedly everyone was so energized that the show has started, and obviously too thrilled that Xiah Junsu sang at the early part of the event. People could probably call that a “treat” already.

TVXQ fans carry with them red glow sticks, which were used for the (American) “Red Sea Project.” As well as those who came to support TVXQ, wearing red T-shirts and red balloons. Essentially the majority of the fans came well prepared, with specified glow sticks, balloons, banners, and T-shirts that show their support for their favorite artists.

Brian of Fly to the Sky who was hosting the event; the moment he was introducing TVXQ, one can’t even hear him finish the group’s name as his introduction was met by deafening screams of fans. The energy and all the fan noise were so intense that it was even hard to hear the music, much more the artists.

TVXQ started off with their powerful song, “Rising Sun,” which got the crowd crazy. Though it was (reportedly) lip synced (Rising Sun), the crowd absolutely loved it. TVXQ then introduced themselves and talked for a bit. They pumped up the crowd as Yunho urged them to scream “DONG-BANG-SHIN-KI” repeatedly. TVXQ then continued on with their sexy R&B song, “Tonight,” which they sang completely live. Fans couldn’t get enough, and continued on with their earsplitting screams as TVXQ started their third (3rd) song, their hit single “Purple Line,” which was in its Korean version. By then, the entire Hollywood Bowl was in total chaos. And then, along with other artists, TVXQ sang “Balloons” and finally, “Lets go On a Trip” with Fly to the Sky, SNSD, Super Junior, Chae Yeon, Lee Minwoo, SG Wannabe, and others. It was delightful seeing them all together.

As always TVXQ looked dashing on stage. They wore slick black outfits. Looking confident and forceful or should we say all-powerful. Its impressive how they have really earned the meaning of their name, which they have proved to be – “The ‘Gods’ of the East!”

Se7en performs at Highlands in Hollywood, Sunday May 4, 2008 USA

American-crossover hopeful Se7en held his album preview party last night at the Hollywood club Highlands, where he performed three songs from his upcoming debut album.

In a nutshell? If you’re a Se7en fan, the event was probably a success because you got to see him performing up close and personal in a relatively small club atmosphere. No way you’d get this close in a performance in Korea, or Asia. Promotion-wise, the party was packed and people were screaming with excitement when Se7en took the stage, so another plus there.

The scene:

Highlands is probably the perfect venue for an event like this; it’s a well-known and popular nightclub — though I wouldn’t exactly call it “world-famous” — and although there’s a decent Asian population amongst its clubgoers, it’s definitely not an “Asian-targeted” club (although you wouldn’t have been able to tell from the turnout last night). It also boasts equal parts swank (read: overpriced, watered-down drinks) and Hollywood pretentiousness (trendy, dolled-up patrons) to make it a high-profile event.

The attendees were, as expected, largely of Asian descent, and while a fair chunk of those were Koreans, most attendees were from the LA and OC area, although there were some die-hards who flew in across the country to make the night. If the party was indeed sold out — and it seemed so, what with the crowding and the super-strict guest list control — there were approximately 2,000 in attendance, going off the club’s listed capacity.

The performances:

The biggest detractor was that entire night was super short. For an event that was promoted as certain to sell out and running from 10pm - 3am, all the action was crammed into less than one hour in the middle. Far East Movement took the stage at 11:50 and performed for about ten to fifteen minutes; Three 6 Mafia took over for a mere ten minutes. Se7en performed at 12:15; granted, it was a preview showcase, but for all the hype, it seemed pretty anticlimactic when everything was over by 12:30.

First, Se7en performed his first song of the night, “You Got Me Now,” with Three 6 Mafia (clip below).

Second was the song posted above, “Money Can’t Buy Me Love,” written by Teddy of onetime popular kpop group 1TYM. Se7en’s vocals came across the most in this song, as you can hear for yourself; it’s also the most melodically strong track (and the one I liked best).

Last was the song “Girls,” produced by “Darkchild” Rodney Jerkins, which was probably the weakest performance of the night. Sure, it’s to his credit that Se7en danced and sang live, but the backing vocal track was so predominant in “Girls” that it was more like he was performing karaoke over the recorded track. Most of his contribution to the song was a few breathy “Girls, girls” sung over the chorus while he gyrated with some dancers.

Eason's Moving Mohegan Sun Concert Review

Thanks Jenny Li for the Eason Chan concert review from the VIP seats. Enjoy!!!

Eason Chan's concert was on Feb. 9th, 2008. I got ViP seats; and I was pretty close up front. Eason was dressed up as a bride at first, which i thought was weird. But, at the end it matches with his song! =) He was very funny, and he talks a lot! O_O He was like " Happy Chinese New Year, Where's my red envelope? " A fan replied " You're married, you're supposed to give us red envelopes! " He said, " Even though I have a daughter, it doesn't mean I'm married. I can do one with you, it's not that bad! " LOL! Anyways, his outfits were really good and it matches with his songs perfectly. He got tired easily though =x He started being worn out after like the 3rd song? Well, I enjoyed his concert because he knew what to do to keep the fans awakee! He would have funny moments with us and sometimes ask us to scream his name. Some people shook his hand but it was all the way on the other side! It wasn't fair!! =o Yea well, I liked the very end because everyone got up to dance. His music were like techno-club music. I loved it so much, all the sounds and everything. He has some great dancers as well. He said most of his songs were new but, I think it sounds really good. Overall, this concert was very good! Except, he didn't give encore! =[ He couldn't because Mohegan Sun was too strict he said >.<'' He looked extremely cute at the end! He was wearing a Red with Gold and it matched him soo much! This was def. one of my favorite concerts. He knew how to plan everything for the fans. =]

also my youtube thingy is http://www.youtube.com/user/liljenx33 you can find my videos there :]

Raymond Lam Atlantic City Concert Review

Thanks Tracie for the review of Raymond's concert. Enjoy!!!

Raymond & Sharon's concert was on February 9th and I was very excited! Ever since I heard Raymond's new album, I fell in love with his singing and couldnt wait to hear it live! The concert started at 1 am, and my family decided to go down 15 mins earlier. My mom and siblings went down first since I had to wait for my aunt. When I was walking down the halls to the elevator I saw a few people down the hall and thought that they might be going to the concert too. As I got to the elevator and was waiting for it, I saw those group of people walk pass me and I looked at them thinking 'why are they going that way if the elevator is this way'. Then suddenly I saw Raymond's face& the back of Sharon's head!!! He looked my direction but I wasnt sure if he saw me lol. They looked like they were in a hurry so I didnt bother to say hi but I really wanted to, I should have! I heard them say "hurry the concert is about to start". I was really happy I saw him in the halls before the concert & it turned out that they lived on the same floor as me!! At some point I wanted to stalk them afterwards hahas! If I wasnt late then i wouldnt have been able to see him!

The concert was really good! I really enjoyed it! Raymond was very cute & sings really good! The fans were really wild and were all out of their seats! The security got mad and started screaming at people to go back to their seats. Sharon came out in the audience, but it was too much people around her she had to run back onto stage. She was also gonna give out autographed cards. She sang very well which I didnt expect lol. Shes very tall but pretty. Raymond and Sharon had a brother and sister relationship which I thought was cute.

During the concert Raymond wanted to come down and begged everyone to go back to their seats cause he said he really wants to come down. He tried one time and walked down the stairs but not even after 3 steps he ran back up. LOL! I think he got scared cause everyone started running towards him. He's very sweet though. He told them to restart the music so he can try again. He tried all over again and this time he made it half way down but couldnt go on and had to go back on stage. I really wanted to shake his hands! At the end of the concert they threw out autographed posters!!! I couldnt reach the middle so I had to stand on the side of the stage. Raymond tried throwing some really far, he threw a lot to the middle. Sharon & him threw about 5 at my side. I was really close on gettin one but all the people were pushing and I didnt want anyone to get hurt so I stopped trying. My sister was really close on gettin one but she was too short and it flew over her head. At the really end, they sang a chinese new year song lol.

I got back to my hotel floor and looked towards the direction where raymond and sharon came from before and thoought about waiting for them but I was really tired and was hoping I will see them tomorrow. The next day I woke up and walked around but had no luck. When I was waiting for the elevator to go down to the lobby I looked back at that moment when I saw Raymond! It was unforgettable but I regret not saying hi to him. oh well lol..Overall it was a great experience and wonderful concert.

Fly to the Sky Hawaii Concert 08 Review

From what I can get from the fan-cam videos and pictures the stage was kind of small, not the usual large scale stages they are used to. The stage was kind of bare with big TV screens plastered in the background; very theater like stage, some light work but not fancy or high scale light work, and no special stages. Which I think is ok because it just showcased their vocals even better. Brian and Hwanhee did solo and group songs, dancing, and all round entertaining performances as if it was a high scale concert. They looked hot as always wearing suits and Hwanhee even ripped off his shirt in one performance….

It kind of seems like it was more like a fan meeting than a concert to me. Some fans account was that both Brian and Hwanhee were so sweet and kind, and took the time out to talk to everyone, but they did notice that Hwanhee was kind of shy especially when it came to him speaking in english…yes he and Brian talked in english, but I think Brian probably talked more than Hwanhee because of the language barrier. But it’s good that Hwanhee tried and all. After the concert they sighed autographs for fans like 100 or more, not sure.

Little inside infor
One of the reasons why FTTS decided to go to Hawaii was that Brian’s brother lives there who also was there at the concert. Brian’s brother was so shy on the stage……GOD! I think the hot gene must run in the family because his brother hot too….here is a link to the video of Brian’s brother on stage with him…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRD_Wf1o4U4

Even though the stage was small I am happy they actually did a US concert and is a great start that may lead to future performance here in the States. WE LOVE YOU FTTS!

Bernice Liu & Siu Gong Concert Review - 12/22/07

Thanks again to Tracie on the concert review. Enjoy!!!

On the day of the Bernice Concert, My cousins and I left for Atlantic City at 3pm. We arrived at the Hilton Hotel and checked in around 5-6pm. I knew that Bernice would be staying at the same hotel, so I kept my eyes open and looked around everywhere I went. We stayed at the hotel room while my mom and aunts went to gamble. We went down to dinner and was hoping Bernice would eat at the same restruant as us. The food tasted very good but very expensive. After dinner, I showered and decided to take a little nap before the concert, but I was way too excited!

I stayed up all the way. It was already 12:45 and my mom and aunts still didnt come back to the hotel room to pick us up to the concert. When they finally came up, they were taking there time and i got mad because it was already 1:00. The concert was about to start!! Finally around 1:05 we took the elevator down to the second floor to the concert hall. There was alot of people waiting to go inside. I was hoping I would get good seats since my aunt was a VIP at the Hiltons. We got front row seats but it was towards the side.

The concert finally started and the lights dimmed. A few seats next to us was empty so I decided to sneak over to the middle. Bernice came out wearing a beautiful outfit. She wore white boots with a skirt and top. She had a great figure. She came out singing "Truth". She sounded really really good! Her singing definitely improved! She smiled alot! Most of the pictures I took of her, she had her eyes closed due to smiling hahas. She is down to earth and had a wonderful personality. She danced and sang together as well. I was disapointed she never came down the stage. I was scared to go up the edge of the stage and shake her hand. During the Concert they handed out little card calendars with a picture of Bernice wearing a costume from the series "Steps" with her autograph!!

Afterwards Bernice introduced Siu Gong aka Steve Chou onto the stage. I had no idea who he was when I saw his picture on the concert promotion poster and thought he would be boring since he looked old. But when he sang the first song, I completely fell in love with his singing! He has a wonderful voice! He sang a very familiar song which i used to know and is the ringtone to my phone but I never knew he sang it! He is very hot for 30 something year old! He had orangish puffy hair with a earring and blue button down with white pants. I thought it was hot how everytime a song started he would snap his fingers to the melody. I really enjoyed his songs!! Every single song he sang amazed me and sounded good!

Then Bernice came back out wearing a long silver top with black tights and silver headbands! When she was singing "The Greatest Love of All" fans bought her presents! She got really happy and funny when someone gave her a present from Victoria Secrets! Bernice soon sang her last song and then Steve Chou came out one last time with the same pants and black button down! He sang alot of songs. There wasnt much applause for him after Bernice left. But I supported him all the way!! During his last song he was literally in front of me on stage, very close! I attempted to go up and shake his hands, but as I started to get up, my leg wouldnt move hahas! I guess I was a little scared . I got sad cause I thought Bernice wouldnt come out no more. But soon Bernice came out one last time and spoke in English giving us Seasons Greetings along with Steve Chou!!!

As we were getting ready to leave, some people were screaming ENCORE!! but they didnt come out ahhas! Some people were lucky because they had back stage passes! Overall, out of all the concerts I attended this was my favorite concert! I enjoyed every second of it, even the dancers and instrument players impressed me. Both Bernice and Steve sang really really well! They are both very talented! I support them all the way

Bosco Wong Concert Review - 8 /5/07

Big thanks to Tracie for providing us with this review, pictures, and video. Enjoy everyone!!!

Once I heard the news that Bosco Wong was coming to Atlantic City, I got really excited and asked my dad if he was able to ask his friend for tickets. It took alot of trouble to be able to attend the concert. I wasnt able to get tickets until the day before the concert. Very long story lol. The day before the concert, I went to get bus tickets to Atlantic City, but it turned out that they were all sold out. There was no way I was able to attend the concert without transportation. I got really upset.

On the morning of the Concert, my mom surprised me and told me my dad would be driving the whole family to Atlantic City after work. I was very happy and invited my friend from school to come along. We left the house around 11pm, it would take at least 2 hrs to get to Atlantic City from Brooklyn. Throughout the car ride we were really excited and the timing was going well, until my dad got lost around New Jersey. He couldnt find his way out into the highway again, but thank god we finally got back into the highway. I looked at the time and had confidence that we would make it there just on time. The concert starts at 1 o clock. It was already a quarter to 1 and we were still far away. I got really really upset. We finally arrived at Atlantic City around 1:15. We met up with my dad friends and got the tickets. I ran up the escalators, it was already 1:30 and the concert started already.

We finally got into the concert, and Ella was on stage, she looked really pretty in a long green dress which made her look like a mermaid. We found our seats which was the second row right under the stage!! But it turned out that someone was in our seats, but we eventually got them out! Right when we sat down and took my camera out, they introduced Bosco onto the stage!! Perfect Timing! He entered the stage with a tux, shades, and a black stick hahas. He looked had his curly hair that time! He was really funny, he had a stand in front of him with all the lyrics. I guess he never had time to rehearse. In the beginning I forgot to put my camera on flash which caused me to take blurry pics =[. Bosco sang a few songs, I thought he did a great job! I especially loved the song Au Revoir Shanghai the most! But I was very disappointed that he didnt sing the Dicey Business subtheme. Soon MiMi came out, she had a afro looking hair lol .They sang an old duet. After that, Bosco and MiMi went backstage and Ella came out wearing a pink kimono. She came down the stage to shake hands! I was one of the first ones to shake her hand! Her hands were very cold ! I saw her face up close, she is really really pretty in person! Afterwards, Bosco came out again and did a hip hop/breakdance, it was wonderful but towards the end he kinda fell doing a handstand hahas! Then he jumped down the stage which caused everyone to run towards him, boy it was ALOT of people lol. I tried squeezing in to shake his hand, but I gave up cause there was way too much people. I moved to the side cause i thought he would move towards that side later, but it turned out he didnt, but i took a few up close pictures. It was funny cause all you saw was his arms, he was completely covered up by fans. I finally decided to squeeze in and try again, but I guess he couldnt take it anymore and went back on stage! I kept trying to shake his hand, he shook everyone hand except mine and mine was right in front of him =[ some luck i have. I tried touching his hand instead, but I couldnt see, too much people. LMAO, I think i touched his glove tho lol. I got really upset and regret not sqeezing into the crowd. My friend was able to shake his hand TWO times!! RAWRS! My sister was able to smack his shoulders lol. Someone from the balcony was able to run down and shake his hand too! oh well.. After the crazy commotion, MiMi and Ella came out to join Bosco and they sang one last song together! It was great! They threw out posters but I wasnt able to catch one lol. It was sad hearing them say bye and stuff, I really wanted the concert to still go on!

Overall I really enjoyed the concert! I took tons of videos and pictures! Bosco is a really down to earth person who loves to joke around! I love his personality! I loved MiMi too, she has a great personality also and she can sing really well.! Ella is very pretty and very nice! My friend and I wanted to stay after the concert to meet Bosco but my mom didnt let since it was "late".Soon we went back to our hotels and slept. In the morning, my friend and I decided to walk around the hotels and boardwalk and see if we could bump into MiMi, Ella, or Bosco. We walked around alot of times, went around ShowBoat as well but no luck. My mom told me that her co-worker's family ate lunch at the same restruant as Bosco!! They are so lucky lol. Overall the concert was a great experience, really enjoyed it!

Stop number 2: Christmas Concert with Leehom Wang at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The concert began for the VIP ticket holders with a buffet dinner at 5pm at the auditorium with a live jazz band that played Christmas carols for the duration of the dinner. After dinner, we all filed into the auditorium to find our seats and to anxiously await the start of the concert. The concert was slated to start at 7pm, however, as is custom with Asian time it was delayed for a bit. Once the concert started, Leehom did exactly what he often does: he wow-ed the crowd with a his talented voice and instrument playing, with a little bit of humor thrown in for good measure.

To start off the concert he descended from a platform onto the stage adorned in a sparkling golden QiPao with dancers and pyrotechnics bursting all around. Because this was a "Christmas with Leehom" concert, he started with a rousing rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" after a riveting 'fight' with the martial artists. The song quickly faded into the GSYX theme and since this was an extension of the GSYX concert series, he sang familiar songs from the "Heroes of the Earth" era, like Heroes of the Earth, Zai Mei Bian and Big City, Small Love. To round off the chinked out section of the concert, he played songs such as Hua Tian Cuo, A Simple Song, and Far Away Place from the Shangri-la album. Cozy, well-known favorites such as Crying Palms, Descendants of the Dragon, W-H-Y, and Fang Kai Ni De Xin were also sung. In addition to this plethora of songs, he sang a couple of songs from the new "Change me" album including Gai Bian Zi Ji, Love's Encouragement and Luo Yue Gui Gen.

As if wow-ing the crowd with his songs was not enough, he also played a myriad of instruments throughout the concert. Piano, Guitar, er-hu, and violin were all played as part of this concert:
Piano - the highlight on the piano may have been his techniques with the keys, playing one seamless song after another.
Guitar - well, he sort of broke a string playing the guitar at this concert....
Er-hu - another awe-inspiriting performance on the er-hu
Violin - thunderous applause burst forth to his rendition of the theme music from Ang Lee's movie "Lust, Caution", and with that, he effortlessly switched over to playing and singing Julia

As always, Leehom interacted with the audience asking where everyone was from. At this concert there were no less travelers than at the Vegas concert. With concert goers ranging from all over the US (East Coast, Midwest, and of course locally on the west coast), Canada (Toronto received a shout out at this particular concert), and of course overseas (Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, to name a few). There were even some wearing College Shirts (Stanford and Berkeley got shout outs as well). Throughout the concert there were jokes, from random Christmas jokes (saying "Ho, Ho, Ho"), how bad his Cantonese was and if the crowd still wanted him to attempt to speak it, to making fun of colleges (Smarty Pants was a label given to the Stanford student). Everyone truly enjoyed the electrifying presence of Leehom.

From the beginning of the concert to the end of the concert, people were attempting to get closer to their idol - from running up to the stage, to crowding him when he got near the edge of the stage.

It got bad enough that the promoters asked him to have the crowd sit down, else they would revoke his privileges of walking down off stage. He even attempted to walk down off the stage to shake hands with his fans. I will use the word attempt here loosely because the minute he walked off stage to sing Forever Love, people surrounded him and he was not able to walk anywhere. In fact, it was pretty hard to see him on the screens because of the crowd that was surrounding him.

Leehom finished the concert with his signature end piece One and only, but only after he belted out the second Christmas carol of the night, Jingle Bell Rock. Leehom came out for this frolicking Christmas carol dancing away, complete with a Santa hat. Wei-Yi was fraught with emotion as it was the last song of the night, and last song of this US Christmas concert series.

All in all the concert experience was great, Leehom had an exceptional performance as we all expected. The crowd was pumped for Leehom and definitely showed it, chanting Leehom at every chance they could get, crowding in to the stage, trying to get up front to touch Leehom. My one real disappointment was that being in the front row did not necessarily allow you to have the concert experience that you wanted. The front of the auditorium was extremely crowded, and hard to see as everyone surged forward to get a chance to touch Leehom or to get closer to the stage. The only way some people in the front row were able to see the stage was to stand on top of their folding chairs, or sit on top of the chair handle itself.

Having said that, we still believe that the concerts in the US were great Christmas presents to us, the US and Canadian fans. Thank you Leehom, for allowing us to spend the holidays with you!

Sincerely,

Our first stop: Christmas Concert with Leehom Wang at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The concert started a little late. Leehom finally came on around 8:30PM with an apology and a joke about Asians and running on perpetual Asian time. When Leehom finally appeared, fans were wild; screams of "Leehom!" reverberated throughout the arena. The concert began with a bang! Fireworks and sparklers illuminated the arena while Leehom was lowered from a stand onto the stage. He did exactly what he does best: singing, dancing and entertaining!

The concert was an extension of the Gai Shi Ying Xong concert, thus; he sang the familiar songs from the concert series. The songs ranged from the chinked out favorites from "Heroes of Earth" and "Shangri-La" to the older songs that the fans love and adore such as "W-H-Y", and "Julia". Because he has recently released a new album, "Change Me" he also played several new songs from that album. What is Christmas without a couple of carols? He sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Jingle Bell Rock". What is a Leehom concert without multiple changes in costume as well as instrumentation? The talented artist wow-ed the crowd with displays of his adeptness by playing the piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, er hu and the violin. One of the more memorable moments was when Leehom played the "Lust, Caution" theme on the violin and also when he played English piece by Jamie Cullin, "All At Sea" on the piano.

Leehom also interacted with the crowd by asking the crowd where they were from Of course, there were people from all over the world, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia. The concert was in the US so of course there were also plenty of US fans at the concert. Throughout the concert, Leehom also made plenty of jokes and got the crowd laughing. During the song, "Kiss Goodbye", he came down from the stage and picked 2 fans to sing with him. The 2 guys that were picked were so happy that they forgot the lyrics to the song. Then Leehom walked around and shook hands with his fans. Some fans were lucky enough to get hugs too! Leehom introduced his band to the crowd, and much cheering ensued. His 2 encore songs included, "Jingle Bell Rock" for which he came out wearing a Santa hat and "The One & Only." He and his dancers came down to pass out mini concert posters. He went back on stage and did his thank yous and left.

The concert lasted over 2.5 hours! Leehom did an exceptional performance as always. Thank you Leehom for spending this Holiday season with us! We couldn't ask for more! This was a very nice Christmas present for all of us.

Sincerely,

Jay Chou (周杰倫)’s LA Concert Review

Thanks to one of our readers, we have a great review for Jay's concert. If any of you have any reviews you want to share, please send them to us at aznconcerts@gmail.com. Check out the review and enjoy!!!

We arrived at the Galen center at about 6:30 and there was already a huge line of fans waiting to be seated. The concert was suppose to start at 7:30, but due to the security, many people entered the galen center abit late. The concert finally started at 8pm with I would say almost 95% full capacity, so around 10 to 11,000 people. Although most of the attendees were between the teen ages to the mid thirties, I wassurpised that there were quite a few elders there as well. Jay Chou opened up with the song Golden Armour, with some of his dancers dressed in armour similar to the ones from the film "Curse of the Golden flower,"while doing fighting skits. From the start you could feel the music in this fairly new center. I was on the second floor, with a nice center view. I can't remember the order of the songs, but I believe he did a few more upbeat songs, before displaying some scenesfrom his film "Secret" then as a lead in to the song, he rose (from under the stage) playing the piano and sang "the secret I cannot tell."

Some of the songs He sung were:

Golden Armour
Unparrelled
The Secret I cannot tell
Cowboy on the run
Listen to mama
Black Humour
Silence
Beyond a thousand miles
Chrysanthemum flower bed
Compendium of Materia Medica/herbalist tea
Twilights chapter 7
Noctourne
I cannot speak
sunshine homeboy
Hair like white snow
Huo yuan jia

I have to say he did a really good job on with the stage show (but lacking some good CG on the bigscreens). Some disappointments about the concert were the little sessions of dance sequences, a quite long and boring session of what seemed to be some sort of music/song improv. Near the end of the concert, somelame person probably made a mistake of turning on the main lights, which signaled that the concert was over, but Jay still had a few more left for his final encore. What also may have been noticeable was Jay's rush of the concert. It seems like he was rushing through the songs, and in some cases, just felt like the songs were shortened (maybe I was just having too much fun and didn't realize it). This was Jay's last stop of his tour, so I'm sure he's quite tired. (maybe even jet lag).

Still the concert, with all of his music and the production value was quite awesome when comparing to various other asian artist.

Jay showed his versatility, as he played different instruments throughout the concert; the piano, guitar, drums, as well as one of the chinese string instruments. (He lead that into Hair like white snow, that was so awesome!). He also had Nam Quan Ma Maperform a few of their songs as well.

In keeping the crowd entertained, in the dance sessions he did have, they were quite nicely in sync, and also doing a Piano battle with one of Nam Quan MaMa's member (as it was a scene taken from his movie"secret"). At one point he was even doing some Yo yo/circus act.

Some memorable moments: Jay doing Listen to your Mom, and seeing Chow yun fat appearing in a short videofootage. For one of his songs, he had an lady playsome sort of chinese violin, which lead into the song Twilight's chapter seven, with Lara (NQMM) doing the female part of the song and one of the male (NQMM) doing other male parts of the song. Jay playing the chinese instrument and singing Hair like white snow. And in the last encore, he did Huo Yuan Jia (Fearlesscredit song), really pumped up the crowd (and some lucky girl got his dragon embroided jacket he hadthrown into the crowd).

Overall it was a great concert, entertaining mostly and full of great music. Jay really rocked the Galencenter (he's the first asian to perform in this center). Go Jay!

Bosco, Mimi, and Ella Concert Review

Thanks to Ah Yi, we have this review. Enjoy!!!

WOW! The past weeks seems to go by so fast! Just one more week and it's back to school! *sigh* so much to do yet so little time.

Just 2 weeks ago, I went to the Bosco, Mimi, and Ella concert. It was great! I had a blast! My friends and I stalked them for 3 days in a row and we only had 5 hours of sleep!! Here's how it began:

First we meet them at the airport (around 10pm), took some pictures and got some autographs. Then we followed them to Atlantic City (after the airport), but got lost along the way because of the heavy rain. After we got to Atlantic City (around 1AM), we put our luggages down in the room and drove over to the hotel that they were staying in (Showboat Casino). We stayed there for the whole night until 5AM. When back to our hotel to take a quick shower. We all couldn't sleep because of all the excitment.

Around 8AM, we went back over to Showboat Casino. We walked around the casino hoping to bump into them. We only bumped into Ella and Mimi in the hallways of the casino near the concert hall. Bosco we saw only when he can out of rehearsal. Finally (around 1pm), was the fans gathering. Around 10 fans showed up for the gathering. Everyone was excited to meet them. First up was Bosco and Mimi - they came in together. We all chatted together with them and they signed some pictures for us. We took individual pictures with them and at the end was the group picture. Wow was that great! After they left, Ella came in! She was very down to earth. She spoke in English with us and she cursed! That was funny! She liked to joke and laugh around us. She's such a cool person to be with.

After the gathering, we finally sat down to have lunch (around 3pm). After lunch, we walked around of a little while and then headed back to our hotel to rest up for the concert and dinner. After dinner, we headed back over to Showboat (around 12am). We were all getting excited to cheer them on!! Finally, it was time to go in! The concert bagan around 1:15am. WOW!! Out comes Mimi, then Ella, and finally Bosco!! Everyone in the concert hall was screaming and yelling on top of their lungs!! I know I was and got a soar throat afterwards. The concert ended around 3am.

After the concert, we decided to walk around hoping to bump into them after the concert. Around 5am, we did. Well...not exactly. We saw Hillman (Bosco's manager), and asked him if we can meet Bosco to congradulate him on his success of the concert. He brought Bosco out for a quick chat and a group picture and then they left. *sigh* What a night. After they went back to their suite, we went downstairs to grap a quick bite to eat before we head back to our casino.

Next morning (around 10am), we woke up. We drove back over to Showboat hoping to meet them once again before they leave. We walked on the boardwalk from Showboat to Caesars. *whew that's a looonnnggg walk* We thought we would bump into them there but we didn't. what a wasts of time. So we decided to walk out to the Atlantic City Outlets. As we were walking down the block, I suddenly spotted Bosco wearing his cap and a "I love NY" shirt waiting for a taxi. We started to scream out his name. He heard us and waved then he went into the taxi. Around 4pm, we decided to head back to our casino to get ready to go to the airport to say goodbye to Bosco and them. We left Atlantic City around 5:30pm and got to the airport around 9pm. Boy did we hit major traffic. We thought that Bosco would be arriving around the same time that we got there because we asked he the night before what time he was leaving Atlantic City and he said around 6pm. Well, we waited for Bosco at the airport for over 2 hours and he hadn't showed up yet!!! He finally arrived around 12am!! We were asking him why it took them so long to get here. He said he wantedt o aviod the traffiic and left Atlantic City at 7pm. But he didn't know that the later it gets, the more traffic there is!!! *sigh* Boy, were they rushed when they got to the airport. They only had time to take a few pictures and sign a few autographs. After that they went throught the gate to board the plane.

-----All of that was my experience in meeting them!!!
